Spiral Cactus Care and Potting Instructions:
Soil:
Use a pot with a drainage hole and fill it with a cactus potting mix. The type of soil that a cactus needs is a well-draining and extremely porous mix. It has to drain very quickly, so it doesnt hold onto too much moisture, and it should dry out within a day or two.
Water:
In spring and summer water weekly, in autumn and winter water every three to four weeks. Only water the plant when the soil is completely dry, or else the spiral cactus can become waterlogged and begin to rot.
Fertilizer:
Cereus forbesii does not require fertilization, however a boost of nutrients during the growing season will help them thrive. Use a fertilizer formulated specifically for cacti and succulents, once a month, during the spring and summer only.
Light:
Plant your twisted cactus in an area that will receive both direct and indirect light. This will help to cultivate the gorgeous blue-green color and avoid your plant getting a sunburn. When planting outside, make sure to choose a spot that receives a mix of direct and indirect sunlight.
Fun Fact
All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti. Aeroles, surface bumps in which spines grow out of, are what distinguishes cacti from succulents.
Ships barerooted. Please add a heating pack to your order if needed, you can find it on our Etsy shop.
If you need a plastic nursery pot for your plant, please find them on our Etsy shop under the section - Plant Supplies. Thank you!
